Lady Gaga & Glenn Close Tied For Best Actress At Critics' Choice Awards

Lady Gaga and Glenn Close both walked away as winners this weekend.

On Sunday night (January 13), an unforgettable thing occurred at the 24th Critics' Choice Awards when the pop star and 71-year-old actress were announced as best actress winners in an extraordinary draw. Together, Close and Gaga both celebrated their win for their work in The Wife and A Star is Born with emotional speeches.

"I am so thrilled it’s a tie, I can’t tell you," Close praised her fellow recipient as she accepted the prize. "I was thinking that, you know, the world kind of pits us against each other in this profession and I know that from all the women in this category, and I think I can speak for all the women in this room, we celebrate each other."

After the surprising turn, a teary-eyed Gaga followed by taking the stage to embrace Close as she received the second honor for her performance in the musical drama.

"I’m so very happy that you won this this evening. This is a tremendous honor," the singer told Close before turning her sentiments to director and co-star, Bradley Cooper.

"Bradley, you are a magical filmmaker. And you are just as magical of a human being," she spoke of the actor. "I’ve never had an experience with a director or an actor like I had with you and I will cherish it forever."

Moreover, the Grammy-winning musician would also go on to claim best song for her and Cooper's record, "Shallow," which appears on the film's soundtrack.

Gaga and Close's recent victories come just weeks after their winnings at the 2019 Golden Globes, which also saw the former bringing home the trophy for best original song and the latter for best actress.
