New Jersey has just introduced legislation that could ultimately ban menthol cigarettes from its...ahem...great state. The reasoning behind this is that apparently the cooling effect of menthol allows you to breathe in more chemicals and is therefore more dangerous. Really? I mean, cigarettes are bad, smoking is a bad, unhealthy habit. But, singling out menthol because of the "cool" taste seems pretty outrageous, and I can't help but think there's something more to their reasoning than what's presented.
Oh, by the way, this law would also ban clove cigarettes which, correct me if I'm wrong, don't contain nicotine. Check out the full story here.
