I feel like I'm a bit of a special case, as I moved to Fort Collins in the Fall of 2016 from Pueblo, and didn't realize it was such a fantasy land. No nasty neighborhoods, minimal sirens at night, and after over a year I haven't heard one gun fight. Well, despite my observations, there is crime in Fort Collins, and these were the most reported in 2017:
